“Fewer and fewer people smoke – but it would be wrong to deduce a crisis in the tobacco industry from this. So far, the industry has found ways and means to keep sales relatively stable in the Far East through price increases and growth, among other things. As Statista’s infographics show, e-cigarettes are also becoming an ever-increasing source of income: While the turnover with the electronic counterpart to the tobacco smoldering stink in 2010 was still a modest 5 million euros, it rose to 600 million euros in 2017 according to estimates by the Association of the E-Cigarette Trade. For comparison: sales of tobacco cigarettes in Germany amounted to 21.4 billion euros in 2017. So the e-cigarette is still a bit away from that. Experts count however further on a strong turnover increase in the coming years.”
